Hey everyone! Danny here with a scammer I caught yesterday. I saw ihaveaspikeandimnew advertising in Jamaa Township that if you traded them something good enough that they accepted, you would win a black long.
They had the black long on trade, but were actually asking people to trade for the lower value item, the Spider Mask, instead.
This is a scam because there is no reason to trade for one item, when you are expecting to get another. ihaveaspikeandimnew had the black long on trade, and was allegedly going to give it somebody, but instead of trading for the black long directly, they were asking people to trade for a different item. This would, of course, give them ample opportunity to just run off with your side of the trade without giving you the item you were promised.
I asked ihaveaspikeandimnew why people couldn't just trade for the spike directly, and another person also asked how we were supposed to know they'd actually give the spike in return. They ignored us for a little bit before simply telling us that we should just trust them.
They continued to ignore us, but thankfully it didn't seem like anyone was actually falling for their scam. They left a few minutes after.
