Agent Insights Ep 58: Intentional Overpricing

Hello, everyone. Flint here, to talk about another scam I've seen on several occasions, and that you should be aware of.

Intentional overpricing is when items are overpriced in shops with the intention of tricking people into thinking a worthless item is actually worth a lot. Sometimes items are overpriced in this manner because gullible people got scammed with this method and then tried to turn around and sell the item again, but most of the time it's easy to spot someone trying to scam with this method.

Intentional overpricing most often happens when adventure items, Epic Den Shop items, new store items, obscure store items, obscure RIMS, or other uncommon/unknown items are sold for far more than they're worth. Usually they're sold for a minimum of several diamonds, though I've seen some go for up to 200. Really, they can go for any amount. What matters is that none of these items are worth anything. For some items, like adventure items or out-of-stores items, 1 or 2 diamonds is reasonable, but trying to charge 20 diamonds for something you can get in a store or an adventure is a rip-off and the seller is either very uninformed or scamming.

To avoid this scam, make sure to look up any item you see being sold for a lot of diamonds, especially if you aren't sure what the item is. I recommend the Animal Jam Wiki, since most items that are used in this scam aren't worth enough to be in the Item Worth Wiki. If the item is actually valuable, it can be worth checking the Item Worth Wiki to see if it's super-valuable or just moderately valuable. If it's not actually worth the diamonds it's sold for, don't buy.

If you see an overpriced item in a store, don't immediately call the owner a scammer. If they persist in saying it's a fair price even after you confront them about it, then they're probably scamming.

That's all for today. Always make sure to look up the relative worth of any item you see being sold for a lot of diamond. Goodbye!

Random Saturday Ep 67: Master Blocks

What's up everyone! Welcome to a new episode of Random Saturdays! Today, I'm going to talk about a relatively new feature in AJPW master blocks. Let's go!

September 25, 2020

roleplaymaster56 (AJPC)

Do not attempt to track down or harass any of the scammers we post. We only ask that you report them, and maybe block them.

Howdy everyone, Danny here with a scammer I encountered yesterday. I was in Crystal Sands when I saw roleplaymaster56 advertising that the best trade they got (in their den) would win their black short collar.

However, instead of their black short collar on trade, they had a firefly necklace. I could tell right off the bat this was a scam - "best trade wins" scams end when the scammer accepts a good trade and then leaves without giving you the item they promised in return. There's no reason to make a trade like this unless the other person has malicious intent.

I headed to their den to check it out. There were only 2 other people there with me, and roleplaymaster56 came back to their den and sat down. They said they were recording, likely as a way to build trust with us. There would be no reason for them to record this interaction unless they suspected people would think it's a scam.

They also told us that we had the option of cancelling the trade instead of accepting it, though it doesn't change the basis of the scam.

I asked why we couldn't just trade directly for the spike. They told me because it was boring and it would end very quickly that way. This confused me - if their intent was to get a fair trade for the spike, it would be a good thing for it to end quickly. They also said it was basically a "rare race"? They probably meant to say it was a race to see who can trade the best, but that doesn't make it sound any safer.

I told them that the entire point of trading is to get a good deal, but they just bluntly told me to leave.

I asked them why I should trade for the firely necklace if I was supposed to be getting a black spike. That was the last straw for them and they locked me out of the den.
Please report roleplaymaster56 for scamming. Stay safe and always trade fairly!

strawberrypaint + woofie96 (AJPC)

Do not attempt to track down or harass any of the scammers we post. We only ask that you report them, and maybe block them.

Hello, Sunny here with a scammer post. I saw strawberrypaint in Jamaa Township, advertising about a pink long collar giveaway.

I went to the den, to see if it was real or not. They didn't say it was trust, but they said I accept once and they accept once, then I click decline. Trust is where the scammer says you have to accept, but they will give the item back. They typically give back lower value items, but if you traded something like a spike you, they will keep the item and lock you out. They will also use the accept, accept, then decline method to scam, but you can not click decline unless you do it really quick, which results in the trade going through.

I traded them, and did what they said but they said I did it wrong. woofie96 asked if they could accept to get more points, and strawberrypaint confirmed this.

They said it would be accept twice then at the end when it says loading, press cancel. That is just a way to cover up trust trading, because there is no way to press cancel after you click accept twice.

woofie96 said they traded a orange long, but I traded a yellow long and declined. strawberrypaint announced that woofie96 was winning because they accepted the trade, which gave them more "points".

When I said I wasn't going to trade and accept, no need for me to take risks, they locked me out.

And when I looked up their usernames, they had both logged off. Thankfully, no one got scammed by them, remember to report strawberrypaint & woofie96 for scamming.

Random Saturday Ep 66: Unreleased Items

Hey Jammers! Neon here with my first Random Saturday! Today we are going to discuss unreleased items in Animal Jam.

Unreleased items are items that AJHQ has planned to release, but never did. They can be either a den or clothing item. A lot of these items can only be found by accessing the game's files. Most of them cannot be obtained legitimately, but some have been released in a limited capacity, meaning only a few exist in the game. Since there are very few players who have these items, they are very rarely seen around Jamaa.

Sometimes unreleased items are given out by mistake. For example, the magenta items were given out by AJHQ when recovering certain items, such as the magenta sheep cloak.

The sheep cloak has been a well-known item in the game, but recently more unreleased variants of it have come out. While a lot of unreleased items are completely original, many of them are simple recolors of existing items that never saw the light of day. One example of this is the turquoise sheep cloak, which is one of many recolored variants of the cloak.  An Animal Jam Youtuber by the name of Kek found a jammer recently who had a red sheep cloak, but they have since been banned.

Over the years, Animal Jam has had several different items enter and leave shops, but perhaps the most unusual items known in the game are the unreleased ones. I have only included a few examples of unreleased items in this post, but you can find a full list on the Animal Jam Wiki here. In the future, there might be more items like these that make the game unique. Please remember that Animal Jam will ban accounts who purposely hack into the game for these items, and our team does not encourage you to attempt to illegitimately obtain these items. Instead, let's just appreciate them from afar. Thanks for reading, and have a great Saturday!

lilykins09 (AJPC)

Do not attempt to track down or harass any of the scammers we post. We only ask that you report them, and maybe block them.

Howdy, Danny here with a scammer I found earlier today. I saw lilykins09 in Crystal Sands, advertising that they had beta homemade wings on their trade list.

I looked at their trade list. They had homemade wings, sure, but not the beta variant. For those of you unaware, there is a special yellowish-green variant of the homemade wings item that was available until 2013, when it was replaced by a similar version with a more cool green color. The difference can be hard to spot without color-picking in an editing program, making it a common tool in scamming.

I went up to lilykins09 and told them the wings on their trade were not the beta variant. They paused for a second before simply saying "oh- oop" and then leaving the area shortly after.

I had a gut feeling this wouldn't be the end of it, so I went to Coral Canyons, and sure enough, lilykins09 was there again, in the middle of someone else trying to communicate to them that the wings were fake.

I checked their list, and sure enough, the fake wings were still there.

They logged off shortly after this.
Make sure to report lilykins09 for scamming. Stay safe and always be sure to check resources like the AJ Wiki and the Item Worth Wiki before making a big trade!

robotaustin + airpodd (AJPC)

Do not attempt to track down or harass any of the scammers we post. We only ask that you report them, and maybe block them.

Hey everyone! This is Clover with 2 scammers that were reported through our report form. The user who submitted the report was named Nova.

A week ago, Nova was in Jamaa Township and they saw airpodd advertising "Giving my list with flash at my den!!" Flash trading is a common scamming method, in which the scammer has a worthless item on trade and the person trading them would have to accept the trade twice, then immediately cancel before the trade can be accepted. Oftentimes, the scammer will accept the trade before the other person can cancel, leaving them with a worthless item.

airpodd's trading list contained a 2 Rare Long Spiked Collars; pink and purple. This is quite a bit to be giving away randomly; a good rule of thumb to follow is that if something is too good to be true, then it often is.

When airpodd entered the den, they explained that they would accept the trade twice and then cancel quickly, and whoever traded the best items would win.

People started to leave the den, realizing it was a scamming attempt, but a few people remained in the den. Soon, airpodd stated that robotaustin was winning with a Rare Pink Short Spiked Wrist.

Nova also noted that robotaustin was quiet and never spoke when airpodd did, and whenever they asked the 2 to move at the same time, they ignored them. robotaustin also mentioned that they were inviting buddies to the giveaway, which was also quite suspicious.

In the end, robotaustin ended up winning the giveaway, and airpodd logged off. Due to the fact that robotaustin stayed quiet for most of the time and ended up winning the giveaway, I think it's safe to say that robotaustin was airpodd's alternate account.

Fortunately, nobody got scammed by airpodd or robotaustin. Be sure to report them both for scamming. Remember to stay safe on Animal Jam and only accept trades that you like!

Agent Insights Ep 57: Ad Chest Rares (AJPW)

What's up everyone! I bring to you today your next episode of Agent Insights! So, today's topic is about ad chest rares. Let's go!

So, ad chest rares are rares that you can get from watching ads in AJPW. These include the rare balloon wings, rare tail armor and rare horseshoe planter. In the past, there were many other rares that could be obtained from this chest. These include the rare top cat, rare flower scarf and others. These rares were discontinued from the ad chest after an update. Therefore, I will not be talking much about it for this Agent Insights. I will focus more on the current ad chest rares and their worth.

So, since these rares come from watching ads, their rarity is actually not really what their "rare" tag is. As someone who watches a lot of ads for sapphires, I can tell you that they are, in fact, quite common. Furthermore, they are currently obtainable until the next change of ad chest rewards. This is unlike most other rares that are currently unavailable.

Therefore, it is important to watch out for people who are looking to trade big with just the ad chest rares. As explained earlier, they are not really rare at all, despite their tag (as of this post). Ultimately, it is important to do a quick check on the items you are about to trade for before actually hitting the trade button. You can search the items up on the AJPW wiki!

That's all from me today. Sorry for the rather short post!

sassybella39 (AJPC)

Do not attempt to track down or harass any of the scammers we post. We only ask that you report them, and maybe block them.

Howdy everyone, Danny here with a scammer I found earlier today. I was in Crystal Sands when I noticed sassybella39 advertising that if you gifted them a clothing beta, they would give you one of the items on their trade list.

Their trade list included several moderately valuable items, including planet walls, blue vines flooring, a giant bunny plushie, and a wooden toy box. Most of these items' value is measured somewhere between 1 - 2 clothing betas.

This definitely seemed fishy to me - why did sassybella39 want people to gift them clothing betas and get gifted their items in return when they could just trade? That would be a lot quicker and safer. I went up to sassybella39 and asked why they couldn't just trade for the clothing betas instead, to which they responded that nobody had any clothing betas on trade.

I told them they could just ask people to trade them clothing betas instead of scouting for people who had clothing betas on trade. They interjected by asking if I was a part of AJHQ for some reason. I told them no, to which they responded "ok thx alot!" and left.

If you have any idea what that was supposed to mean, please tell me. Make sure to report sassybella39 for scamming. Stay safe and always use the trading system!

Random Saturday Ep 65: Pet Expeditions

Hello! Agent Quacc here with a Random Saturday. For this week, I'll be taking a look at pet expeditions in Play Wild (or just Animal Jam).

Pet expeditions are a members-only feature where you can send your pets on trips in hopes of winning different rewards. You can find the boat to send your pets away in Crystal Sands. Once you click on the globe icon, it'll show you what kinds of expeditions that you can send your pet on.

There are many different locations that you can send your pet to, from the Parched Dunes to the Glacial Pass, since the options are always changing. There even was limited time locations but they aren't available anymore. Each location needs a certain level from a pet and energy.

You can level up your pet and give them more energy by taking care of them in the Pet Station. You can find the Pet Station in Shoreline Decor in Moku'ahi for 100 sapphires.

Once your pet has enough energy and is on a high enough level, you can pick an expedition for them to go on. Different locations can take 1-5 days to finish.

When the time runs out, you can earn all kinds of awards like sapphires, gems, rare items and more.
Bonus Tip: You can also get items, gems or sapphires from just taking your pet around Jamaa!

That's everything for today, thank you for reading!
