Heartkitty5 (AJPC)

Do not attempt to track down or harass any of the scammers we post. We only ask that you report them, and maybe block them.

Hey everyone! Danny here with a bit of a strange scammer encounter I had several days ago. I noticed Heartkitty5 advertising that they had glossy cupid wings up for trade on their trade list.

For those of you who may not be as familiar with the AJ rarity system, there are two different versions of the cupid wings item - glossy and non-glossy. During the item's first release cycle in 2014, the shine on the wings was pure white. However, when they were released again in 2015, they looked slightly different, with the shine being a lighter shade of the item's base color instead of pure white. The original 2014 ones with the white shine have been dubbed "glossies", and are worth a lot (sometimes multiple black longs) compared to their non-glossy counterparts (1 den beta each).
I checked Heartkitty5's trade list, and the cupid wings on their trade were not glossy. It can be a little hard to tell the difference, but upon color picking the shine on the glossies in MS Paint and putting the picked color up against the real glossies, it's very clear they're not the same.

I went up and told Heartkitty5 the wings weren't glossy, and other people told them as well. I expected them to simply admit they didn't realize and stop calling them glossy, as it often goes in these situations, but surprisingly, they started staunchly defending themself and further proclaimed that they were glossies.

They also told me to look it up, and I would see they were glossy. So, I looked it up, went to the AJ Item Worth Wiki page on the glossies, and sure enough, this only solidified the fact in my mind that these were not glossies.

They also tried telling me that I didn't have to trade if I didn't want to. This wasn't really what I had a problem with, though, as I wasn't planning on trading them myself. It's one thing to simply be unaware of an item's value and correct yourself when someone lets you know you got it wrong, but it's a whole other thing to double down and defend your stance when multiple people are telling you that you're in the wrong. The former is simply being honest and misinformed, but the latter is blatantly lying and an attempt to scam people by misleading them into thinking an item is worth much more than it really is.

I tried to explain to them that they couldn't just lie to people about what an item's worth was, but they told me to leave them alone, as they were "just trying to get rid of them". We weren't being harsh, either, we were just trying to tell them they weren't glossies and that they need to stop saying they are. It isn't a very good look to tell people who are trying to explain to you the real worth of an item you're trading to leave you alone.

They left after this.
Report Heartkitty5 for scamming. Stay safe and always make sure you're trading fairly!
