leahsuzj (AJPC)

Do not attempt to track down or harass any of the scammers we post. We only ask that you report them, and maybe block them.

Hello, Danny here with a scammer I encountered a few days ago. I saw leahsuzj advertising in Coral Canyons that they were giving away glitched beta wings (Beta Homemade Wings) in their den.

They had the wings in question both on their trade list and on their animal. For those of you unaware, there is a variant of the homemade wings purchasable in Jam Mart Clothing that were only available during the Beta testing period of Animal Jam. This color, a light lime green, appears very similar to the current default version of the homemade wings. The main difference is that the beta version of the item has a yellower complexion while the storebought ones are a colder green. Because of this, it can be very difficult to tell the two apart unless you have a reference image. The beta variant, which leahsuzj claimed to be giving away, is worth a few black long collars, while the storebought ones are worth basically nothing.

Below is a diagram I made of the wings leahsuzj has, colorpicked, and held up against a picture of the real and fake beta homemade wings on someone’s trade list (sourced from the Animal Jam Wiki). In this image, we can clearly see that leahsuzj’s wings are not the real beta variant they are claiming them to be.

I went to their den to investigate. leahsuzj soon returned and assured us that the wings were real, because why would they give away something fake?

Well, it was soon revealed why they would be “giving away something fake”. leahsuzj announced that the wings would be given away via a trust trade contest, which involves leahsuzj putting a bad item on trade, someone trading a good item, accepting twice, and then cancelling. The idea is that the person who trades the best items will get all their items returned, as well as the homemade wings they won, but in reality, the “giveaway host” just locks you out and keeps your items.
Basically any giveaway that involves trading the host, even if they promise to give your stuff back, is a scam. This one just had the added bonus of leahsuzj lying about the value of the prize, likely as an attempt to encourage people to trust trade better items, and as a way to make the giveaway seem more authentic (the idea being that, if they aren't lying about the fact their item is extra valuable, why would they lie about giving your items back?)

It was just me and a few other people in the den, most of whom left at this point. I said that I was just going to watch, and leahsuzj immediately locked me out of the den.
Make sure to report leahsuzj for scamming. Remember to be safe and always check before making a trade for a valuable item!

-Danny
