littlecutmoon + Evergreenpack0bea (AJPC)

Do not attempt to track down or harass any of the scammers we post. We only ask that you report them, and maybe block them.

Howdy everyone! Danny here with a scamming duo I encountered a few days ago in the pillow room - littlecutmoon and Evergreenpack0bea. I saw littlecutmoon sitting to the left side of the pillow room, advertising that they were looking to trade their solid (black long collar) for a rare wizard hat. They didn't actually have the black long on trade, but asked that anyone who wanted to trade should send them a JAG.

This seemed very suspicious to me because the black long is one of the most valuable items people will trade for, and I was pretty sure that a rare wizard hat wasn't worth anywhere close to that. I checked the AJ Item Worth Wiki, and my suspicions were confirmed - the item is obtainable from adventures, and is valued at a few RIMs at most.

I suspected that littlecutmoon was a part of an S14 scam. For those of you who may be unaware, an S14 (or simply a two-person scam) is a scam that involves one player offering to trade very valuable items (or just one item in this case) for an item that not many players may have, but ultimately is not worth very much (the rare wizard hat), and another player who has that item and is looking to trade it for a lot of valuable items. The idea is that the victim will trade something of high value for the uncommon item, but when they go to trade it to the other player, all of a sudden, both players have disappeared and the victim is left with a mostly worthless item and none of the rares they traded for it.
This scam can manifest in a variety of different ways. Sometimes, the scammer will approach the victim directly via JAG and the other player will follow soon after, other times the two scammers will simply be positioned far away from each other in the same area. I looked around the pillow room to see if there was anyone else around with a rare wizard hat on their trade list, and sure enough, there was - Evergreenpack0bea.

I went up to littlecutmoon and told them that Evergreenpack0bea had a rare wizard hat for trade, and suggested they could go trade with them. littlecutmoon gave me an absolutely puzzling response, telling me that there were "lots of vases in room xd".

I have absolutely no idea what that was supposed to mean. I thought maybe they were trying to say they didn't see Evergreenpack0bea because there were a lot of vases in the foreground of the pillow room, but they made no effort to seek out the person with the other half to their trade. I can only assume they responded like this because they didn't expect anyone to confront them about their scam, as they went on to continue advertising and simply ignored me. Soon after this, both accounts left at the same time, and it seems like nobody fell for the scam.

After checking the comments section of the wizard hat's page on the Animal Jam Wiki, it would seem there is a sudden influx of people using the item as fodder for S14 scams lately (there are MANY more comments aside from these ones). It's generally a good idea to remain suspicious when you see people who are offering absurdly high-value items (spikes, black longs) for items that you don't see other people trading with.
If you ever feel weird about a trade, you should check trusted resources like the Animal Jam Wiki (and especially the comments section) to see if an item is really worth as much as someone claims it is, or if they are lying to you. If someone tries to pressure you into trading with them immediately and doesn't want you to take time to think about it, that's a huge red flag and you should steer clear of that person.

I'm unsure if these two were just allies, or if they were the same person, but nonetheless, make sure to report both littlecutmoon and Evergreenpack0bea for scamming. Stay safe and make sure to always exercise caution when trading!

Post-Post Update
I encountered these two again TWICE yesterday when I was in Coral Canyons, pulling the exact same scam, this time with a lava spike, also worth only a few RIMs.

Funny enough, this time, littlecutmoon had forgotten to put the lava spike on their trade list and instead had a blackout moon necklace.

I went up to littlecutmoon and asked if they had gotten that wizard hat they wanted yesterday. They acted extremely confused like they had no idea what I was talking about before both accounts left.

Once again, make sure to report both littlecutmoon and Evergreenpack0bea for scamming. I have seen these two a combined total of six times since initially writing this post, so I'd strongly advise blocking them as well.
