Generati0nz/xSoftEchoes (AJPC)

Do not attempt to track down or harass any of the scammers we post. We only ask that you report them, and maybe block them.

Howdy everyone, this is Danny with a scammer I encountered the other day. I was in Jamaa Township when I saw Generati0nz advertising for an opportunity to get a variety of rare items by searching for "French Promos AJ :D!". They claimed that there was proof of this scheme giving people headdresses on the channel as well.

This sounded fishy to me, so I decided to go check it out. I searched for "French Promos AJ :D!" and found a YouTube channel known as xSoftEchoes. The channel only had a few videos uploaded, including the aforementioned "French Promos AJ :D!" video as well as the so-called proof of this scheme giving people rare items.

In the French Promos AJ video, a member account (username not shown, of course) instructs people to go to xSoftEchoes' YouTube channel and click the link to the French AJ servers in their channel's About page and login to the game. The video then shows this user clicking on the link to the French AJ website in the channel description, entering their login information, loading into the game, and going into their den.
The "loophole" they claim will get you rare items is then shown. The user opens the settings drop-down menu in-game and opens the option to redeem a code. They try to enter the code "rimheaddress" repeatedly, only to get a popup telling them the code is invalid each time. After several tries, Animal Jam's automated security captcha pops up as a result of trying to enter an invalid code too many times. After completing the captcha, the player then closes out the redeem code window and opens their inventory to reveal a RIM headdress, apparently claiming that they got that from doing whatever it was they just did.

I went to their channel's About page and saw the link to the French AJ server they had allegedly used in the video.

I clicked on the link and was taken to what looked to be a French version of the Animal Jam Classic website... except it wasn't.
This is known as the "Fake AJ" phishing scam. While this website may look very similar to the official Animal Jam Classic website, except in another language, it is actually a duplicate being hosted by somebody else. In other words, it's a fake website a scammer made to trick people into entering their Animal Jam username and password to the site.
If you look at the address bar of the site, the address is a bunch of gobbledy-gook that looks like someone trying to type the word "Animal Jam" with their eyes closed. In addition, as indicated by the "000webhostapp" in the URL and the 000webhost banner in the lower right corner of the page, this site is being hosted by a free webhosting platform, not by AJHQ. If you try and enter your login information on this site, you will not log into the game - rather, the scammer who owns this site will now have your username and password for Animal Jam.

I have already reported this website to 000webhost, so it will likely be taken down soon. However, I don't doubt that xSoftEchoes will end up making another one once they notice it has been deleted, so our best bet is to get their YouTube channel taken down altogether. If you can spare a minute, I encourage you to go to this person's channel and report them for scam/fraud. Please also report Generati0nz for safety.

Now, usually, this is usually where I would end the post, but I found some other things while looking at xSoftEchoes' channel that I think would be fun to take a closer look at. If you aren't really interested in that, then feel free to move on with your day, but if you have some free time on your hands, I will put the rest of my findings under the jump break, so click "read more" and we can go on a deep dive examination of this person's channel together.

We already know that the "French AJ" linked on their channel is fake, I figured that from the very start. But even if we didn't know that, there are a variety of other things in the videos on their channel that tipped me off to the fact this was a load of malarkey.
Let's start with their French Promos AJ video. In this video, the player is shown to click on the link in the channel's description, enter their username and password, hit enter, and then start loading into the game. I knew this video had definitely been tampered with because I already knew the "French AJ" link was fake, but there were several other reasons that this video stood out as being fake aside from that.
To start, the username the player logged in with, Thegreywolf, is not the username of an existing account on Animal Jam. So, this person either pretended to login to an account that doesn't even exist or their account got banned within the 2 days it has been since they published this video. Neither of those is very encouraging.

Second of all, because the video is cropped so close, it would be pretty easy for the person editing it to make the footage jump from them entering their username and password on the fake AJ site, to them actually logging in to the real Animal Jam servers. In fact, the reason I know it would be so easy is because that is exactly what they did.
As shown previously, the fake AJ site is entirely in French. However, after this person enters their login information, the footage jumps to an Animal Jam loading screen with... English text on it.

If that wasn't enough, this person didn't bother to edit out the single second of footage where, in the Jamaa Township they spawned into upon logging in, you can clearly see all the other players speaking English, so they are definitely not on the French AJ servers.

In the alternate language servers of AJ, even if your account has free chat, you can still only say certain words that are picked from a list (likely because WildWorks does not have near as many moderators to moderate free chat in other languages). I went on the French servers myself to test this out, so here is a picture of perfectly valid English words being blocked.

Additionally, in the video, you can see the animal names of the other players, and of the person making the video. If they were really on the French servers, everyone's animal names would be in French. This is a picture I took on the French servers for an example.

When they open the option to redeem a code, all the text is also in English.

That was all of the interesting stuff I found in the French Promos AJ video, but they also uploaded a second video only a few hours ago titled "French Promos AJ (more proof)". In the description of this video, xSoftEchoes claims this video was made by their friend Empress, and allegedly shows them using the French AJ "loophole" to get their dream item.
The video shows a purple arctic wolf in a fully decorated den, with their username, of course, not shown. This person opens the xSoftEchoes YouTube channel and navigates to their About page. However, the first thing I noticed was a "customize channel" button on the channel.

For those of you who have never had a YouTube channel before, this option to customize your channel only shows up when you are logged into YouTube and viewing your own channel. So this video was, in fact, not made by xSoftEchoes' friend "Empress", but by xSoftEchoes themself.
The video continues much like the last one did, with "Empress" going to the fake website and entering their login information. The username they entered was "Empressalex", which, surprisingly enough, is actually the username of an existing account!

I did a little digging. In the video, the arctic wolf's name is Mister Wonkybuddy. I looked through Empressalex's animals, and they had several arctic wolves, but none with that name.
Additionally, upon looking at Empressalex's Jammer Wall, there was only one message, left by Empressalex themself, stating that their account had been compromised and asking anyone who was still buddies with them to unbuddy them. At the time of writing this post, this message had only been left 2 hours ago, an hour after the second video had been published.

The video continued very similarly to the previous one, except in this one, the person made no effort to pretend they were on the French servers at all. They stayed out in a public area where other players were speaking English, and even spoke full sentences themself. They did the same song and dance as last time, except with a code for a black long collar instead. They opened their inventory to show a black long, danced and celebrated, and the video ended.

I cannot say for certain what fate befell Empressalex's account, but my hypothesis is that they were a previous victim of xSoftEchoes' scam, and before they realized their account had been compromised, xSoftEchoes used their account to stage this fake "proof" video. This seems especially likely, as the video was uploaded only an hour before Empressalex posted this message on their wall. I reached out to them to see if I could get more info, but as of right now they have not responded to me. I will update this post with more info if I can get in contact with them.

Alright, that's the end of the post for real this time. Once again, please report Generati0nz for safety and report the xSoftEchoes YouTube channel for scam/fraud.
Stay safe everyone!
-Danny
