Agent Insights Ep 03: Avoiding Hackers

Hey all, Jade here! In today's Agent Insights, I wanted to talk about a topic that's a little less known than how to avoid typical scammers- avoiding hackers!

True hackers are people who get into accounts that don't belong to them through a various number of methods. They may or may not delete or take items, but it is more common than not for them to mess around and sabotage your things. False hackers are people who threaten to hack in order to get rare items, but don't actually have the means to do it. False hacking is a less-known method of scamming.

This post is kind of long, so I'm putting the rest of it under the cut. Click read more to continue reading!

In the past, I have encountered multiple "hackers". One of these was a person running around Jamaa Township, making inappropriate comments and threatening to hack people if they didn't give them all their rares. When no one gave into their demands, they started swearing through filter bypasses (saying things like "shoot the fruit up"). They went to my den when I confronted them and continued their behavior until I locked them out.

In order to avoid true hackers, the most important thing you can do is to not give out your personal information. If someone asks for your password, email, address, real name, or other sensitive information, don't give it to them! No matter how nice they seem, it's never a good idea to tell them those kinds of things. Even your real life friends could do something mean if they have your password. In summary, don't give your information to anyone you don't know in real life, and don't give your password to anyone (except maybe your parents).

If you already gave someone your password and you're scared they might try to take your items, all you have to do is go into the Animal Jam Parent Dashboard, or have your parents do it, and change your password. Don't freak out in a situation where you could get hacked- just handle it calmly, change the password, and everything will be fine.

One of the main methods that false hackers use to scam is intimidation. They will say things like the person I talked about earlier. They will threaten to hack you, and if you don't comply with what they're asking, they might start saying bad things about you or to you. What you need to do in order to keep from getting scammed by these "hackers" is just not be intimidated. Animal Jam is just a game. No matter what claims the person may make, they can't hurt you in real life. So- move away from where they are, then block and report them.

So, in summary- Don't give out personal information, especially your password, and don't be intimidated by other Jammers. Thanks for reading today's Agent Insights. Happy Jamming!
