Agent Insights Ep 21: Generators

Hello, everyone. Flint here to talk about generators. 

Generators are non-Animal Jam sites that claim to be able to give you free stuff. “Stuff” includes memberships, currency (gems/diamonds/etc.), and items. They could possibly promise to give other things. Usually they only want you to enter in your username and password, and they claim they will transfer the items/currency/whatnot directly to your account. 

Generators are always scams. There is no instance in which giving your login information to random people is a good idea. They will take your info, log on to your account, and steal all of your items. Some sites may even give your device viruses/malware that steal all of the info on your computer. Not to mention that they are against AJ’s rules. 

The way to avoid these scams is by not entering your username or password into any site that is not Animal Jam. This Site is Animal Jam. Any site that is not this site is a place that should not have your password. In fact, the only people that should know your password are you and your parents. 

If you come across such a site, you should attempt to report it to either AJ or the platform the site is hosted on (e.g. Blogger, Weebly, Wix, etc.). These sites are scams, and nobody wants scams lying around, including site platforms. 

If you have already entered your password into a generator, change it ASAP. See if you can install an antivirus as well.

Agent Insights Ep 20: Signs of Scams

Hello, everyone. Flint here, talking about the general signs that what you're involved in could be a scam.

There is little "new" in scammer methods. They usually use the same tricks over and over, with only slight modification. Sometimes, though, it can be a pain to remember them all, or the circumstances can be fuzzy and hard to tell if it's a scam. So, I'll share some general rules for telling scams from non-scams, regardless of type.

1. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. 

This is not a universal rule, but if someone claims you'll get a bunch of very rare items for relatively little in return, this is a warning sign that it's a likely scam. 

2. Does it involve the exchange of items outside of the normal trading system?

If they want you to gift-trade, indirectly trade them something, trade through a third account, or gift them and they'll gift back more, or log onto your account and put stuff on it, it is a scam. Another way to put this is "Do they, at any point, hold or have the potential to hold your items without having given you a fair trade in return?" Also note that all these rules also apply in giveaways.

3. Does it involve trusting the other jammer more than you would a random guy on the street?

You wouldn't trust some random guy to hold your valuables. He might run off with them. Similarly, you should not trust random jammers to hold your valuables, in case they run off with them. This also applies to trusting them not to accept the trade/share your password/etc. This does not mean you're hostile to others. It means you have good boundaries and good sense.

Random Saturday Ep 30: Bittersweets

Hey all, Blue here with another rand Sat!

Today I am going to be talking about Bittersweets, Animal Jam's (PC) seasonal adventure for Halloween.  

Bitter Sweets is an adventure where you play as your pet, and you go around collecting candy by dissipating Proto-Phantoms, which will drop one candy if you touch them. for every different amounts of candy you collect, you can open a chest. the first one is at 100, second at 200, third at 400, fourth at 700 and last at 1000. 

The rewards are various halloween-themed den items.

There are also special pet passages, for clothing items. There is a passage for bees, kittens, bats, peacocks, puppies, tarantulas and probably some others. They give out different clothing items and sometimes clothing betas.

1000 candies seem like a lot? Yeah, it is. However, there is a quick way I have discovered that can finish the adventure for you fast.

Get a group of four people together, and go find one of the candy jackpots, located at the end of each of the maps legs:

Activate the Jackpot by each sitting on a stump, and grab your candy from the chest when it pops out.

Walk away from the jackpot until you can no longer see it, wait 15 seconds, then go back. It should have reset and you can get the candy again!

This strategy made the whole 5 chests take 10 minutes for me. Its quick and easy!

Update Post - September

Hey all! Jade here, with the update post for September.

First of all, we've slightly updated the rules for promotion - we will now not allow time spent on leave to contribute to the minimum time requirements for promotion.

Marshmellow was removed from the society due to inactivity. Cat, however, has rejoined us!

Finally, we are beginning a new contest on our Discord server, "The Search for Moku'ahi". If you would like to participate in this or any of the other games we hold from time to time, you can join our Discord through the link in the sidebar!

Agent Insights Ep 19: Donations

Hello everyone. Flint here, doing an Agent Insights. I'm happy I'm only doing Agent Insights now. I am here to talk about people asking for donations.

"Asking for donations" includes people saying they got scammed/hacked, people saying it's their birthday, people saying they don't have any items, etc. Basically, anything where people ask for things without promising anything in return.

This last part is important. If they don't ask anything in return, it's not really a scam. They didn't deceive you into thinking you'd get something back for your item. When you gave it away, you knew full well you would not get the item back and would get nothing in return. Thus, with few exceptions, people asking for donations are not scams.

You can make a case that people claiming they are new accounts or got scammed or hacked of a certain item are scamming if you discover evidence that they are lying (e.g. they have a bunch of achievements for a new account, they have the item they say got scammed, etc.). In this case, it would be appropriate to make a post/report them for scamming. If you have no evidence that they are lying, you should assume that it is not a scam, or not done maliciously, because there is no way to prove that it is a scam. 

We should not make posts about people who we aren't sure are scammers. This is why we don't usually make posts about donations people. It's almost always impossible to tell if they're legit or not, and they don't do anything that involves promising you stuff in return.

You should not give people asking for donations your rares. There is always a chance that they are lying, and even so, it's not good policy to hand out your valuable items to random people. You should instead either ignore them, or give them RIMS or other such not-very-valuable items. This way, you can help people who legitimately just want items, and you won't lose your good items.

Random Saturday Ep 29: Feral

Hey all, Blue here with today's Random Saturday!

Today I will be talking about Animal Jam's game-in-development, Feral.

Feral is Wildworks' way to try to get some of the older players in AJ to stay in the game. It's going to be focused on the older generation, and won't have as many chat filters. You can talk about Instagram or YouTube or whatever you want!

Feral is going to be a mythological-based game. Not much is known about it.

The only other character that the community knows of is the Kitsune, a many-tailed fox-like animal.
No images of it have come out yet.

Think that sounds cool? There's more!

Similar to AJPC and AJPW your animal can be customized and patterned so that it is unique, and of course you can dress it up with items. But here's the twist. While there will probably still be items you can win or buy, Feral will let you make, yes MAKE, your own items to use and trade! I don't know the exact details, whether you can design them from scratch or whether you have to use a base, but thats pretty cool!

Feral will also have things similar to Adventures, but they will be called Quests and be slightly more involved with the game's storyline. Similar to Minecraft, you use materials you gather in quests to craft items.

Feral will be for all platforms, and it will not be solely download. Feral's Beta testing has been said to be coming December this year or early 2020.

This new game is being developed by PlayWild's team, so it will be 3D. I cannot wait!

Random Saturday Ep 28: Eggstravaganza

Hey all, Jade here, with the latest Random Saturday! Today I'll be talking about Animal Jam's Eggstravaganza pets.

The Eggstravaganza was introduced on April 13, 2017. This event allows Jammers to buy eggs that randomly hatch into one of multiple pets. There have been several different incarnations of this event, including the spooky version, the summer version, the fall version, and more. Each egg costs three diamonds and takes three days to hatch into a pet.

There have been a variety of different pets used as Eggstravaganza releases. The Pet Falcon, Pet Baby Chick, Pet Crocodile, Pet Platypus, Pet Echidna, Pet Crow, Pet Poodle Moth, Pet Vulture, Pet Millipede, Pet Sparrow, Pet Cardinal, and Pet Frilled Lizard have all been released in the past. Currently, the Pet Millipede, Pet Poodle Moth, and Pet Vulture are available for purchase.

Jammers have many different opinions on the Eggstravaganza pets. Some think that the challenge of getting a certain kind of pet from the randomized process is fun and makes for an exciting surprise, while others think that it is unfair and you should simply be able to pick which pet you get, rather than wasting diamonds. But, whichever side you take, we can all agree that these pets make a cute addition to the game of Animal Jam!

Monthly Update - August

What's up everyone! I'm back with your next Monthly Update!

One of the more important things I want to address is the new rule of probation. A member will be put on probation if they rejoin after being removed from inactivity, get 3 warnings as a gamma, or when they just got promoted from omega to gamma. When someone is on probation, they cannot get any warnings during the period of probation. Otherwise, they will be removed from the society.

Next, Gamma Tiger has been removed again due to inactivity, and Gamma Marshmellow has been put on probation due to getting three warnings.

Also, I apologise on behalf of the whole society for the inconsistent posting last month. Sorry about that!

Finally, we finished the Race Through Jamaa Event with Flint winning the prize! Don't worry though, I have ideas for future contests.
