Random Saturday Ep 23: Camels Coming to Animal Jam?

Hey all, Jade here with your latest Random Saturday! Today, I thought I'd bring to your attention the possibility of a new animal coming to Animal Jam soon- more specifically, the camel!

If you've been paying attention to the game's recent updates, you've probably seen this picture at least once. This is a "Glyph Stone", representing an update soon to come. In order to understand it, we have to decipher the three symbols on the stone.

The second symbol looks something like an arrow, and the third symbol looks something like a world, so we can safely assume that the message is something along the lines of "____ is coming to this world," with the blank representing the first symbol. In examining the first symbol closer, you may realize that with its two humps and four legs, it closely resembles a camel! So, I believe that the message reads "Camels are coming to this world."

If you need more proof, camels have already been introduced to AJPW, so it's only a matter of time before they come to the browser version of the game.

Random Saturday Ep 22: AJPW Carnival Cotton Candy

What's up everyone! I'm here with another episode of Random Saturday! Before we dive in, I'd like to apologise for the lack of a scammer post on Thursday. We couldn't find any scammers, but I suppose that's a good thing? Anyway, without further ado, let's go!

Similar to AJPC, AJPW has its own cotton candy machine in the Summer Carnival. However, the numver of designs you can do are much more limited than AJPC, as of my last attempt. There are a total of 3 different designs, and they can be made with any type of base cone. Do note that this is for AJPW only. Maybe next time we will do one for AJPC.

The first design is the famous phantom cotton candy. To make it, you need to choose a colour pattern of black, white, black on any cone.

Next, there is a moon design. To make it, you need to choose white, blue, white on any cone.

Finally, there is a star design. Just choose yellow, yellow, yellow on any cone.

Agent Insights Ep 14: Starting an Agency

Hello. Flint here, to tell you what I know about starting a scam-catching agency.

Starting a scam-catching agency can be difficult. While it doesn’t take that much effort to create a site and some application forms, setting up your agency such that it will stay active is hard. (Note that this assumes you want multiple people, and don’t want an open community page type thing.)

You want to have a platform, first. This is important, as it allows people to find you easier and acts as a place to store all important documents and forms, as well as letting you post scammers somewhere. I’d recommend using a platform like Blogger, as it’s easy to set up, free, and doesn’t have any linking restrictions or whatnot that would impact you, although social medias and other website platforms probably work just as well. I don’t recommend using a YouTube channel as the platform, although having one attached is useful. YouTube doesn’t store documents as well, and it can be a pain for multiple people to contribute.

It’s also important that you have somewhere where you can talk. I’d recommend Discord, as it has many features and bots that make things much easier.

You also want to come up with a name for the agency. This is not as important, because unless the name sounds really stupid, it won’t have much of an impact.

You can also create rules and rankings for future agents. While this part is fun, you should avoid obsessing about it. Ranks do not need to be complex, they can be as simple as [Poster>Admin]. There’s a good chance nobody’s going to join for a while, so don’t worry about this until you have a lot of people, then adjust from there. With rules, they should be mostly summarized as “don’t be a jerk or an idiot, also contribute”, and rules made to enforce other rules. Make sure your rules aren’t overly restrictive or too loose. However, don’t stress too much about them just yet, as you might not get anyone for a while, and even then, most people aren’t problematic.

Then, you can create applications. Make sure that you check them at least semi-often. You’ll want questions that weed out bad applicants and tell you useful information about them (e.g. time zone, what they want to be called, etc.). When accepting, you should accept most everyone at first, and then, when you retain enough people, start getting tougher. If people that you accept cause problems or are inactive, feel free to eject them from the agency.

You’ll want to make posts about scammers. This is important, for obvious reasons. I’d recommend coming up with at least a loose formula a post should follow, to avoid poorly made posts and spam when you have more people. Make sure to post regularly, because its very easy to set up the framework of an agency, and then forget to post/fall out of the habit of posting and become inactive. I’d recommend a schedule, or a quota.

There’s obviously a bunch more, but that’s an overview of the basic framework. Once you’ve done all this, just keep going until people start joining, at which point you can revise the rules/rankings/site/whatnot as needed. Bye!

Agent Insights Ep 13: Scamming a Scammer?

Hey all, Jade here with your Agent Insights! Today, I'll be talking about whether or not it's moral to scam a scammer.

Sometimes, if a Jammer or someone they know got scammed, the Jammer will follow the scammer around and try to get the items back, sometimes through scamming the items back. They might pretend that they're a scammer as well, they might pretend they want to play trust, they could use many other methods of tricking the scammer. But is it moral to scam someone if they scammed you first?

Short answer: No.

If you've ever heard of the Golden Rule, you know that it says "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." So, if someone punches you, you shouldn't punch them back! Keep calm and don't instigate more violence. Even though scamming is online and not in real life, the same principle applies. If someone scams you, don't scam them back! Keep calm, ask for your items back, but if they don't give them back, then report and block them and just leave. If you scam them back, even though they scammed you first, you're becoming just as bad as them. 

So, in conclusion, don't scam! Even if you want to scam someone who scammed you or someone you know first, don't do it, just report and block them. Thanks for reading this episode of Agent Insights! Stay safe out there, Jammers.

Monthly Update - May

What's up everyone! I'm here with your monthly update for May! Without further ado, let's go!

Firstly, we have implemented a "leave" system for our members. If they want to take a break from the society for more than 30 days, they will fill the form up and the higher ups will look into it.

Next, we also have started an "Interest Check" scheme. Once every two months, society members will fill the form up indicating their level of interest of working in the society. This gives us an indication of our members' morale.

Also, we managed to hit our posting quota for the month! Yay!

Finally, we are still hiring! We currently don't have many members in the society, and we need a few more members if we want to up our posting frequency. You can head over to the "Joining" page if you want to join our society!

Agent Insights Ep 12: Catching Scammers

Hello. I’m Flint, here to talk about how to properly “catch” scammers.

Catching scammers, at least the way we do it, involves gathering solid evidence that the person in question did actually scam. This way, people can trust you when you say you found a scammer, instead of only having your word.

If you see a scammer, and want to catch them, then you want to take screenshots of them scamming. You can also then take pictures of them responding to questions (like “that’s a scam” or “why can’t it be a draw”), people complaining about them being scammed by the person, or pictures of them locking their den or leaving after you asked. Alternatively, you can just record the whole interaction.

Getting proof that someone is scamming is generally a good idea. Then, people can trust you more when you say they’re a scammer, as opposed to people having to decide whether to trust you or to dismiss you as someone with a grudge against the user.

Random Saturday Ep 21: Adventure Types

What's up everyone! It's me with another Random Saturday! I remember some Saturdays ago, Flint made a post about the Evolution of Adventures. Today, I'm gonna talk about the types of Adventures AJ has.

First, we have the Adventures that follow the main storyline. In my opinion, these include Return of the Phantoms, The Phantom Portal, Meet Cosmo, The Hive, The Great Escape, Greely's Inferno, The Search for Greely, The Phantom Badlands, The Phantom Fortress, Storming the Fortress, The Mystery Below and The River's Heart. These adventures should be played in the order listed above, because they build the plot of the story one after another.

Next, we have the side story adventures. These adventures are still story based, but they have not contributed much to the main storyline at the point of writing this. These include Bubble Trouble, In Too Deep, Turning the Tide, The Hidden Falls, The Front Lines, and The Trials of Zios.

Next, we have the maze-type adventures which involve Jammers navigating a maze, collecting stuff along the way. These include Twists and Turns, and Jamaaliday Rescue.

Next, we have the finder based adventures. These involve Jammers moving around a map to find all the items necessary for prizes. These include The Forgotten Desert, Bitter Sweets, Special Delivery, Lucky Clovers and Spring Festival.

Next, there are grinder based adventures. These adventures involve Jammers literally grinding for stuff. They often have Jammers doing the same thing over and over again until a certain point. These include Graham's Workshop and Tiki Trouble.

Finally, there is one adventure that doesn't quite match all the above categories. That adventure is New Year's Fortune. It isn't grindy like the grinders, and not and findy as the finders. I guess it's unique.

Agent Insights Ep 11: Scammer YouTube Channels

Hey all, Blue here with the latest Agent Insights! In today's post, I'll be sharing my views on scammer channels, both scammers themselves and scam stopping channels. 

So, I am sure many of you have seen YouTube scamming videos. Some of the time, they are fake. Those point out scams and how to stop them, which is good. However, most of the time, they are true and show someone scamming someone else.

This is becoming more frequent. Watching a video and catching a scammer are very different because you cannot see the scammers user, which keeps them safe. 

However, some YouTube channels are focused on exposing scammers. One of the most significant is Things AJ. The channels that focus on this are often well-accomplished scam catchers and know how to stop a scammer. However, these channels are becoming less active as they get more popular because scammers start learning their usernames and start avoiding them. 

Overall, these YouTube videos by scammers are used to communicate with other scammers and brag about their scamming skills, using items won by scamming as a gauge. If you have ever been scammed (like me) you know what its like to lose your best items. So to scammers out there, we implore you to quit your channel, give the items back and start anew.
