Agent Insights Ep 12: Catching Scammers

Hello. I’m Flint, here to talk about how to properly “catch” scammers.

Catching scammers, at least the way we do it, involves gathering solid evidence that the person in question did actually scam. This way, people can trust you when you say you found a scammer, instead of only having your word.

If you see a scammer, and want to catch them, then you want to take screenshots of them scamming. You can also then take pictures of them responding to questions (like “that’s a scam” or “why can’t it be a draw”), people complaining about them being scammed by the person, or pictures of them locking their den or leaving after you asked. Alternatively, you can just record the whole interaction.

Getting proof that someone is scamming is generally a good idea. Then, people can trust you more when you say they’re a scammer, as opposed to people having to decide whether to trust you or to dismiss you as someone with a grudge against the user.

Random Saturday Ep 21: Adventure Types

What's up everyone! It's me with another Random Saturday! I remember some Saturdays ago, Flint made a post about the Evolution of Adventures. Today, I'm gonna talk about the types of Adventures AJ has.

First, we have the Adventures that follow the main storyline. In my opinion, these include Return of the Phantoms, The Phantom Portal, Meet Cosmo, The Hive, The Great Escape, Greely's Inferno, The Search for Greely, The Phantom Badlands, The Phantom Fortress, Storming the Fortress, The Mystery Below and The River's Heart. These adventures should be played in the order listed above, because they build the plot of the story one after another.

Next, we have the side story adventures. These adventures are still story based, but they have not contributed much to the main storyline at the point of writing this. These include Bubble Trouble, In Too Deep, Turning the Tide, The Hidden Falls, The Front Lines, and The Trials of Zios.

Next, we have the maze-type adventures which involve Jammers navigating a maze, collecting stuff along the way. These include Twists and Turns, and Jamaaliday Rescue.

Next, we have the finder based adventures. These involve Jammers moving around a map to find all the items necessary for prizes. These include The Forgotten Desert, Bitter Sweets, Special Delivery, Lucky Clovers and Spring Festival.

Next, there are grinder based adventures. These adventures involve Jammers literally grinding for stuff. They often have Jammers doing the same thing over and over again until a certain point. These include Graham's Workshop and Tiki Trouble.

Finally, there is one adventure that doesn't quite match all the above categories. That adventure is New Year's Fortune. It isn't grindy like the grinders, and not and findy as the finders. I guess it's unique.

Agent Insights Ep 11: Scammer YouTube Channels

Hey all, Blue here with the latest Agent Insights! In today's post, I'll be sharing my views on scammer channels, both scammers themselves and scam stopping channels. 

So, I am sure many of you have seen YouTube scamming videos. Some of the time, they are fake. Those point out scams and how to stop them, which is good. However, most of the time, they are true and show someone scamming someone else.

This is becoming more frequent. Watching a video and catching a scammer are very different because you cannot see the scammers user, which keeps them safe. 

However, some YouTube channels are focused on exposing scammers. One of the most significant is Things AJ. The channels that focus on this are often well-accomplished scam catchers and know how to stop a scammer. However, these channels are becoming less active as they get more popular because scammers start learning their usernames and start avoiding them. 

Overall, these YouTube videos by scammers are used to communicate with other scammers and brag about their scamming skills, using items won by scamming as a gauge. If you have ever been scammed (like me) you know what its like to lose your best items. So to scammers out there, we implore you to quit your channel, give the items back and start anew.

Random Saturday Ep 20: Potential Uses of Statue Alphas

Hello, Flint here with another Random Saturday. This one is about the potential uses of what I call Statue Alphas.

There are, of course, 6 major Alphas in the game, as well as Tavie and Juno. They show up in adventures, storylines, and other places, and they tend to do a lot. There are also a bunch of weird Alphas that you only see in statues, or vaguely mentioned sometimes. There’s one for every animal, and a new Alpha shows up each time a new animal is introduced. They don’t really do anything, though, unless they’re raised from the pit like Tavie and Juno.

I feel like there’s more they could be used for. While I understand that created new storylines and game mechanics takes time, there are also many ways the Statue Alphas could be used. 

One way is introducing more into the story, like Juno was. I feel like rediscovering old Alphas who were locked away/hiding/elsewhere would be cool. Maybe they can direct their attentions to this instead of the Phantom Fortress of ever-increasing scale and that weird Trials of Zios storyline.

You could also have more specific Animal Parties/Rooms where only that type of animal could get in. You could also then formulate the decor and any possible shop items around the animal and their personality. You don’t even have to detail the personality all too much, just add some cozy dark tunnels for the fox one, an isolated iceberg cave for the polar bear, or some other such thing. You could also cook up some diary entries or signs left behind by the room's Alpha.

You could also even just create small, one-page entries somewhere containing a small amount of info about the alpha, as well as a picture. Just something like “X Alpha is very [trait] and enjoys [activity]. They spend their time doing [blah]” would be cool.

Monthly Update - April

What's up everyone! It's me with your monthly update for April! Without further ado, let's go!

April was a rather quiet month for the society. We didn't have much changes going on. However, we did manage to hit our posting quota for the month!

Next, we're sad to say goodbye to Omega Shybun. Good luck in your future endeavours!

Also, we've decided to adjusting our posting dates and times to the GMT time, rather than the EST time that we used to use. For example, our Random Saturdays will be posted on Saturday GMT rather than Saturday EST.

That leads to the Dyno bot in our discord server. It has been renamed "Mira", and it can display the current time in GMT with the command ?time.

Finally, there was a small addition to the application form. Though it will not affect your chances of being accepted into the society, we'd like to know if you are active in AJ, PW, or bith, so we can get a rough estimate of AJ scammer posts and PW scammer posts.

Random Saturday Ep 19: Royal Red Pandas

Hey all, Jade here with the latest Random Saturday!! Today I'll be talking about the latest animal introduced to Animal Jam- the Royal Red Panda.

Agent Insights Ep 10: Scammer Reformation

What's up everyone! It's me with an actual regular post this time! Ok, so, in today's Agent Insights, I'm going to share why I feel that scammers can reform, the challenges involved and how they can start.

Ok, so we know scamming is bad. Some scammers may not know that what they were doing could hurt other's feelings. However, once they realise it, they may think twice again about scamming. In this case, the scammers have potential to reform and correct their own wrongdoings. Scammers are people after all, and people can be taught to distinguish right from wrong.

Now, the path may or may not be smooth for scammers who want to reform. In good cases, their friends will accept them as friends again, and forgive their past misdeeds. However, in harder cases, there may be prejudice against the scammer, especially if other people remember their username. They may be shunned by old buddies, and people around. This, will be much harder case to overcome.

Now, how can scammers overcome the difficulties to reform? I have a few suggestions on how to get started. First, they got to let go of their greed. I believe that many scammers are driven by their greed for more rares. On the road to reformation, they need to let go of it so it doesn't come back. Learn to be content with what you have. Next, do good. Gift people on AJ if you're a member. Trade people good stuff. Drop sapphires in AJPW. There are many ways to show that you can do good to the community! Finally, don't ever think about scamming again. If you managed to re-earn other Jammer's trust, I don't suggest that you lose it again by going back to scamming. The more trust you lose, the harder it can be to overcome scammer prejudice.

With that said, it's not impossible to reform. You scammers out there who are reading this, I highly encourage you all to think about your actions, and do your best to reform. It's not impossible.

Random Saturday Ep 18: Referrals

Hey everyone! Blue here with the newest Random Saturday, and today I will be talking about AJPC's referral feature.

To get your referral link, you open your buddy page and click the invite a friend button underneath the dropbox.

 

There are 4 stages to the referral, and this is when it gets interesting. The first stage, when someone makes a new account via your referral, you get 1,500 gems, which isn't too exciting. However, if someone you referred gets membership, you move on to the second stage, and as well as the 1,500 gems you get a week of membership added to your account and 15 diamonds. If 3 people you referred get membership, you move on to the third stage, where you get 25 diamonds, one month membership and the exclusive Epic Feathered Armour set!!

If 5 people you referred get membership, you move on to the fourth and last stage, where you get one month membership, 50 diamonds, and the legendary eagle.

This eagle is customisable with 4 different patterns in many different colors, and people on this stage can make as many of them as they like! however it is super hard to get this far unless you buy membership on your spares, a sign of true dedication to animal jam.
