Agent Insights Ep 58: Intentional Overpricing

Hello, everyone. Flint here, to talk about another scam I've seen on several occasions, and that you should be aware of.

Intentional overpricing is when items are overpriced in shops with the intention of tricking people into thinking a worthless item is actually worth a lot. Sometimes items are overpriced in this manner because gullible people got scammed with this method and then tried to turn around and sell the item again, but most of the time it's easy to spot someone trying to scam with this method.

Intentional overpricing most often happens when adventure items, Epic Den Shop items, new store items, obscure store items, obscure RIMS, or other uncommon/unknown items are sold for far more than they're worth. Usually they're sold for a minimum of several diamonds, though I've seen some go for up to 200. Really, they can go for any amount. What matters is that none of these items are worth anything. For some items, like adventure items or out-of-stores items, 1 or 2 diamonds is reasonable, but trying to charge 20 diamonds for something you can get in a store or an adventure is a rip-off and the seller is either very uninformed or scamming.

To avoid this scam, make sure to look up any item you see being sold for a lot of diamonds, especially if you aren't sure what the item is. I recommend the Animal Jam Wiki, since most items that are used in this scam aren't worth enough to be in the Item Worth Wiki. If the item is actually valuable, it can be worth checking the Item Worth Wiki to see if it's super-valuable or just moderately valuable. If it's not actually worth the diamonds it's sold for, don't buy.

If you see an overpriced item in a store, don't immediately call the owner a scammer. If they persist in saying it's a fair price even after you confront them about it, then they're probably scamming.

That's all for today. Always make sure to look up the relative worth of any item you see being sold for a lot of diamond. Goodbye!

Random Saturday Ep 66: Unreleased Items

Hey Jammers! Neon here with my first Random Saturday! Today we are going to discuss unreleased items in Animal Jam.

Unreleased items are items that AJHQ has planned to release, but never did. They can be either a den or clothing item. A lot of these items can only be found by accessing the game's files. Most of them cannot be obtained legitimately, but some have been released in a limited capacity, meaning only a few exist in the game. Since there are very few players who have these items, they are very rarely seen around Jamaa.

Sometimes unreleased items are given out by mistake. For example, the magenta items were given out by AJHQ when recovering certain items, such as the magenta sheep cloak.

The sheep cloak has been a well-known item in the game, but recently more unreleased variants of it have come out. While a lot of unreleased items are completely original, many of them are simple recolors of existing items that never saw the light of day. One example of this is the turquoise sheep cloak, which is one of many recolored variants of the cloak.  An Animal Jam Youtuber by the name of Kek found a jammer recently who had a red sheep cloak, but they have since been banned.

Over the years, Animal Jam has had several different items enter and leave shops, but perhaps the most unusual items known in the game are the unreleased ones. I have only included a few examples of unreleased items in this post, but you can find a full list on the Animal Jam Wiki here. In the future, there might be more items like these that make the game unique. Please remember that Animal Jam will ban accounts who purposely hack into the game for these items, and our team does not encourage you to attempt to illegitimately obtain these items. Instead, let's just appreciate them from afar. Thanks for reading, and have a great Saturday!

Agent Insights Ep 57: Ad Chest Rares (AJPW)

What's up everyone! I bring to you today your next episode of Agent Insights! So, today's topic is about ad chest rares. Let's go!

So, ad chest rares are rares that you can get from watching ads in AJPW. These include the rare balloon wings, rare tail armor and rare horseshoe planter. In the past, there were many other rares that could be obtained from this chest. These include the rare top cat, rare flower scarf and others. These rares were discontinued from the ad chest after an update. Therefore, I will not be talking much about it for this Agent Insights. I will focus more on the current ad chest rares and their worth.

So, since these rares come from watching ads, their rarity is actually not really what their "rare" tag is. As someone who watches a lot of ads for sapphires, I can tell you that they are, in fact, quite common. Furthermore, they are currently obtainable until the next change of ad chest rewards. This is unlike most other rares that are currently unavailable.

Therefore, it is important to watch out for people who are looking to trade big with just the ad chest rares. As explained earlier, they are not really rare at all, despite their tag (as of this post). Ultimately, it is important to do a quick check on the items you are about to trade for before actually hitting the trade button. You can search the items up on the AJPW wiki!

That's all from me today. Sorry for the rather short post!

Random Saturday Ep 65: Pet Expeditions

Hello! Agent Quacc here with a Random Saturday. For this week, I'll be taking a look at pet expeditions in Play Wild (or just Animal Jam).

Pet expeditions are a members-only feature where you can send your pets on trips in hopes of winning different rewards. You can find the boat to send your pets away in Crystal Sands. Once you click on the globe icon, it'll show you what kinds of expeditions that you can send your pet on.

There are many different locations that you can send your pet to, from the Parched Dunes to the Glacial Pass, since the options are always changing. There even was limited time locations but they aren't available anymore. Each location needs a certain level from a pet and energy.

You can level up your pet and give them more energy by taking care of them in the Pet Station. You can find the Pet Station in Shoreline Decor in Moku'ahi for 100 sapphires.

Once your pet has enough energy and is on a high enough level, you can pick an expedition for them to go on. Different locations can take 1-5 days to finish.

When the time runs out, you can earn all kinds of awards like sapphires, gems, rare items and more.
Bonus Tip: You can also get items, gems or sapphires from just taking your pet around Jamaa!

That's everything for today, thank you for reading!

Agent Insights Ep 56: List Filler Scam

Hello, everyone. Flint here, to talk about a type of scam we haven't covered yet. Someone commented on our blog telling us about it, so we figured we'd talk about it.

This scam occurs two different ways on AJ and AJ Classic. First, I'll talk about the AJ Classic version. This scam occurs when you have something good on your trade, and someone trades you one item that's an overtrade, as well as a bunch of necklaces or similar cheap store-bought junk. If you take the time to look through the list, they will cancel for being 'too slow'. This process will repeat until you aren't actually checking the list and are just trying to accept as fast as possible. Once they have you doing this, they will accept the trade, but the good item will have been removed, leaving you with all the cheap junk and without your rare.

The second version of this scam occurs on AJ/AJPW. This scam occurs when someone will trade you one good item and a bunch of bad items for your good item. They will then remove the good item, and attempt to accept the trade before you notice its absence.

Note that sometimes the list filler items are all the same item, and sometimes it's a variety of cheap store-bought items. It doesn't really matter, except that the items being all the same make them easier to notice.

This scam can be easily identified by having someone try to trade you one good item and a bunch of bad store-bought items (or RIMS if the item is high-value enough). If someone tries to do this to you, ask them to remove the filler items and only trade you the good item. If they refuse for any reason, they're trying to scam you.

That's all for today. Remember to be suspicious of any trade that contains tons of filler items. Goodbye!

Random Saturday Ep 64: AJ's Tenth Birthday

Howdy y'all! I, Aqua, will be taking a look at AJ's tenth birthday with you, visiting the comings and goings. This ones for all old and new players alike!

Animal Jam was founded on September 9th, 2010. It's been a while hasn't it? To celebrate, tons of fun events and items have come out! First off, the AJ Birthday Party is back featuring new statues for new animals and alpha necklaces. If you've been wanting the Birthday Bash music, now's the time to get it! As always, the cake has set itself to 10.

Along with the party, a new cake and bundle have appeared! Well, sort of new. Birthday cake 10 and 6 are quite similar, other than the candles decorating the sides. Due to the recent name change, the code names are different as well. AJBDAY has gone to CLASSICBDAY, making it more official. I doubt we'll be seeing Animal Jam back anytime soon, if at all.

That's not all, we have yet to discuss the new bundle. Ever since AJHQ has switched its priorities, we've been getting less and less. Old items releasing instead of new, simpler rims, and recolors? That's right, the new bundle consists of simple recolored clothing and den items. With the outfit using birthday likes colors, and the interior being spiked and slightly different in hue.

Despite all this, we still celebrate one of our favorite games this month. Lately, we've been going through a bit of change, mostly without drama. Though there's been a bit of backlash, we'll have to work with what AJHQ will give us from now on. On a final note, happy birthday Animal Jam.

Jam on! We'll see you next time.

Update Post - August

What's up everyone! Today, I'm bringing to you your next monthly update!

So, first, we'd like to extend a warm welcome to Gamma Neon! Welcome to the society!

Next, we just finished testing undercover as an event. We are currently testing spyfall. Once we are done testing all events, we can begin our monthly events in our discord server. You may join it here!

Speaking of our discord, we recently started a new text channel that is all about advertisements. If you have a website or server that you'd like to be advertised in our server, just speak to one of the staff, and we'll help you through it.

Finally, the staff are currently discussing changes to the society training system for Omegas. As such, we have temporarily closed applications. Once the new system is all sorted out, we will open them up again.

That's the news for the month today. Stay safe, and Jam on!
