Random Saturday Ep 51: Tiny Shop (AJPW)

What's up everyone! Today, I present your next episode of Random Saturdays! Today's topic is about the Tiny Shop in AJPW, so without further ado, let's go!

Sometime after the phantom dimension was released, this shop in Appondale started to exist. Yes, this shop is in Appondale!

The entrance to this shop is located at the right side of the Appondale tree. It is located below where the wind chime is hanging, and to the left of the three tall grass in the picture above. The door is very small, and regular sized animals will not be able to get into it.

Therefore, to get into the shop, you will need a specific potion. The shrink potion will shrink you to a size small enough to be able to fit through the tiny door in the tree. The shrink potion may be ontained through the daily spin or through the phantom salesman in the phantom dimension.

There are six items that you can get in the tiny shop. They are the tiny wings, tiny pillbox hat, tiny backpack, tiny cowboy hat, tiny tiara and the tiny bowler hat. All these items fit well on your tiny animal, but once you become big again, they will bet too small! You still can wear it, but they are so small, its hard to see them!

That's all from me today, until the next post!

Agent Insights Ep 42: The Accept, Accept, Decline Scam

Hello, everyone. Flint here, to talk about a type of scam that's grown in popularity recently.

The Accept, Accept, Decline scam often happens when someone will claim that they want to trust/troll trade. They will claim that you can do this safely and without risk by accepting twice and declining on the last round; this is as opposed to normal trust trading where there is lots of risk that the person you're trusting with will run off with your items. Sometimes they just try to get you to accept-accept-decline without claiming anything. Really, this scam occurs any time someone claims that you can accept twice and decline on a trade.

However, trading only has two stages. If you follow the scammer's instructions, you will accept twice, and find that you can't cancel the trade. The scammer will accept, and you will have lost your items. There is technically a small window to decline after accepting twice, but the scammer is prepared to accept at lightning speed, and you have a very low and almost nonexistent chance of declining the trade. This is just flash trading, but updated for the new trading system. Anyone trying to do it is trying to scam you.

This scam can easily be avoided by remembering that trading has two stages, and ignoring anyone who says otherwise. Most scams of this sort can just be avoided by only trading when you intend to accept the trade and perform no further trades.

That's all for today. Bye!

Random Saturday Ep 50: Rare Pets

Hey all, Jade here with this week’s Random Saturday (and the 50th overall)! Today, I’ll be talking about one of my favorite things in Animal Jam: pets! More specifically, rare pets.

There are a lot of pets in Animal Jam, ranging from hamsters to phantoms to hippos. However, certain pets are classified as rare, most of them because they have a rare tag. These pets can be worth anywhere from a few den betas to over 50 black longs, all depending on what kind they are and what features they have.

There's a lot of pictures in this post, so I'm putting the rest of it under a cut! Click read more if you'd like to continue!

Agent Insights Ep 41: Scamming Teams

Hey guys! Shade here, with my first Agent Insights talking about scamming teams. So scamming teams can come from a few different areas. As talked about before on our blog, they can be created from advertisements on YouTube channel videos, being made into a Discord group, or any other social media account. However, I wanted to put more empathize on the scamming teams that meet on Animal Jam or Play Wild.
So scamming teams aren't just two allies working together on a scam, (Although two of them can be apart of these) but they are a part of a bigger and more organized group of people, working together to scam and collect items. Like a society of scammers per say. A big example of this was emb0's scamming team from 2012.

Big scamming teams like this work together to make their scams more successful, it being a hub for them to find allies or exchange information on ways to improve their scams. Although teams like this aren't heard of a lot these days, many of them being banned or inactive, it is a good idea to keep watch for them for the ones that could be out there.

Welp, that's all for now, and until next time!

Random Saturday Ep 49: Animal-only areas in PW

What's up everyone! I'm here with your next episode of random saturdays! Today's topic is the Animal-only areas in PW, henceforth knon as hideouts.

So, this feature is a PW only feature. There are areas in the Jamaa of PW that only certain, specific animals can access. The arctic wolves, bunnies, deers, foxes, horses, lemurs, lions, monkeys, pandas, raccoons, snow leopards, tigers and wolves have hideouts of their own. I also want to mention that arctic foxes have access to the fox-only hideout, moose can access the deer-only hideout, arabian horses can access the horse-only hideout and arctic wolves and direwolves can access the wolf-only hideout. Out of all the animals, the arctic wolf is the only one that has access to two hideouts.

The different hideouts have a different theme each. I also noticed that the land where each hideout is found heavily influences the theming of it. For example, the tiger hideout has the theme of a beach because it is located at crystal sands. Meanwhile, the monkey hideout looks like a jungle because it is found in sarepia forest.

Now that PW has taken on the name of "Animal Jam", I hope to see new areas released for some of the newer animals out there! I think that'll be cool!

So, if you have any of the animals mentioned above, you can enter the specific hideout of your animal! I won't be covering the specifics of all the hideouts in this post, but maybe they could be in future random saturdays!

That's all from me now, till next post!

Agent Insights Ep 40: Selling AJ Items for Real Money

What's up everyone! In today's Agent Insights, I'm gonna be talking about selling your AJ items for real money online, and how it can be a scam.

To start the entire process, the seller (henceforth referred to as A) will put images of their items on an online shopping site. One example of such a website is eBay.

Usually, A will write in the description to tell them your username, or some other method they will use to give you the bought items. However, it is possible that A just takes your money after the purchase and not do anything after that.

This is possible because such online platforms are not using a system like trade. In trading, the items are swapped at the same time. However, this system is more similar to gifting instead. One goes first, and the other goes after. What's different is that this time, you're using real money, not online virtual currency.

Additionally, there is no way you can report A to AJHQ because chances are, A did not include their username in the images or description.

Of course, there could be cases that A is being genuine about the sale. However, the prices for some items that I found on ebay are pretty pricey for pixels. Do we really want to risk a significant sum of real life money for pixels? I personally would not.

Furthermore, doing such a transaction could get your account permabanned because both you and the seller are violating the AJ terms of service.

Therefore, I highly recommend you all not to risk making such purchases. It may seem tempting, but there are way to many risks taken for just obtaining pixels. In situations like this, it is best to do a quick risk analysis of the situation. If the risks are too high, please don't follow through.

That's all from me today, till next post!

Random Saturday Ep. 48: Traveling Salesman in PW

Hello, everyone! It's Rose again with your latest Random Saturday! Today, we're going to be covering a topic exclusive to Animal Jam (formerly known as Animal Jam - Play Wild), the Traveling Salesman, a shop that is only available in certain lands on certain days and is run by Arthur, a non-player character that is a purple-gray raccoon wearing a red fez. He can be found in Jamaa Township, Crystal Sands, Mt. Shiveer, and Coral Canyons.

The salesman was first spotted on June 10, 2017. AJHQ first announced his arrival in Animal Jam - Play Wild through the Jamaa Journal in June 2017.

Every few weeks, he sells items that are of a different color than the original variant in his shop, there are 6 items for non-members and 3 for members, 9 in total.
For example:

IMG 7360IMG 7361

Since he comes every few weeks, be sure to check Jamaa to get his items! Good luck with finding Arthur.

Stay safe, everyone! Farewell, readers, until next time.

Agent Insights Ep 39: Reporting

Hello, everyone. Flint here, to talk about the Animal Jam reporting function and how it actually works.

As I'm sure you know, Animal Jam has a reporting function in-game. You can click on someone's name, click on the report button, send in a report for a variety of reasons, and then the report gets sent.

Reporting can sometimes feel like it doesn't really do anything. However, if many people report someone for the same reason, that someone will be suspended. AJHQ can tell if someone is scamming/rule-breaking or not (they have access to chat histories/JAG histories/etc.)

One person reporting doesn't do anything, but many people reporting does. This is why we always recommend that you report scammers you see in-game, as well as scammers you see posted here. If enough people report them, they can get suspended. This goes for all the things you can get reported for. Whether someone is scamming, being inappropriate, being mean, or whatever, reporting them and asking other people to do the same is helpful and can lead to appropriate action being taken against that user.

If a bunch of jammers decide to mass-report some random person they don't like, said random person won't get banned. AJ will look at their account, determine that they didn't actually do anything, and nothing will happen. So, you don't need to worry about report-spam falsely banning you.

In summary, please report the scammers that we post here. If enough people report, those scammers will be banned.

That's all for today. Make sure to always report people breaking the rules, and goodbye!

Random Saturday Ep 47: The Origin of Cami's Frog

Hey guys, Shade here! How's it going? I'm here with the second post of the month and today we're diving into a story some of you guys may not know about Cami's Frog; an item that's been in the game since the beta.

Den Betas | Animal Jam Item Worth Wiki | Fandom

Cami's Frog was originally based of a real stuffed animal named Froggy, owned by who is now the Wild Explorers show host (of course) Cami.

Wild Explorers: Meeting Animals with Cami! | Animal Jam - YouTube

Her dad, Pat, ended up doing it in honor of her when Animal Jam was first starting out, after Cami had been diagnosed with leukemia when she was young.

As a young girl, Cami took Froggy everywhere she went, getting her through a lot of hospital visits and when the times got tough for her and her family. From 2010-2014, her mother wrote about what was going on in the blog 'Kisses For Cami' which can be found here. Since then, Cami has been living her life, having recovered from leukemia.
Today, Cami is the host of Animal Jam's Wild Explorers show and also has a tent in Coral Canyons to help advertise the show and help players learn more about animals and the world around them.
Cami's Frog has ended up making a huge impact in the game and it's history. It is a reminder of  perseverance, that even when everything seems uncertain, to push forward and keep going.

Update Post - April

What's up everyone! Happy May day! Today, I'm bringing to you your monthly dose of SASS updates. Without further ado let's go!

April was the month of change for the society, as you could probably tell from the new colour scheme. Yes, that's right! We are now using more of a greenish shade rather than our old purple.

Next, we have a whopping six new gammas who joined our team! I'd like to extend a warm welcome to Gammas Mage, Timber, Styx, Shark, Noodles and Neutron!

I'd also like to congratulate Agent Shade, who has been promoted to the Theta rank! Congratulations!

Since we have so many new agents, we are able to increase the posting frequency as a society. We now have scheduled scammer posts on wednesdays and thursdays!

We also have revamped our report-a-scammer form. It may be viewed here.

Next, we are aware that some of our posts may have broken images. I implore you to bear with us as we fix the issue!

On another topic, the games in the fun and games channel are undergoing a revamp. As such, the fun and games rooms are closed till further notice.

Finally, we are discussing what kinds of posts have the potential to occupy the tuesday slots when we run out of ideas for Agent Insights. Don't worry, we are not ending it just yet, but we are preparing just in case we have to.

That's all the updates from me now. Till next post!
