Agent Insights Ep 08: S14

Hey all, Jade here with the latest Agent Insights! Today, I'll be talking about a much less known scam. The only name I've seen it called in the past it S14, so we'll be calling it that today. Though this isn't used very often, it's one of the most effective and scary scams out there.

--

S14 begins with two scammers sitting in Jamaa Township, usually just far enough away that they can't be seen on your screen at the same time. Scammer 1 has a very good item on trade and is asking for an extremely uncommon item in exchange for it (and not accepting any items other than that). Scammer 2 has that uncommon item on trade and is asking for trades.

Seeing this, and not knowing it was the setup for a scam, a Jammer may decide to trade Scammer 2 for the uncommon item, then trade it to Scammer 1 for the very good item. However, when someone tries this, Scammer 2 will refuse to accept. Because of their continual declining, Jammers will get more and more desperate when trading them, even if the uncommon item isn't that rare. When Scammer 2 finally gets a trade they deem rare enough, they will accept, but then both scammers will leave.

This leaves the Jammer who traded with Scammer 2 with a worthless uncommon item, lacking their rares they traded for it, and not able to trade for the good item they wanted from Scammer 1. Therefore- the Jammer has been scammed!

--

This is a very hard scam to avoid if you don't catch onto what's happening very early. However, some things that can help are:

1) Asking someone who seems like a Scammer 1 (the one with the good item for trade, asking for the uncommon item) why they won't accept anything else for the item, even if it's rarer than what they're asking for.
2) Just stop trading with anyone who seems like a Scammer 2. If they won't accept anything reasonable for their item, then it's not worth it to keep trying to trade with them.

--

I do hope this helped you all learn a little bit more about scams and how to avoid them! Stay safe out there, Jammers.

Agent Insights Ep 07: Why Scamming is Bad

What's up everyone, I'm back with another episode of Agent Insights. Today, I'm gonna talk about why I feel scamming is bad.

So, scamming is a process in which scammers trick other people to give them good items in return for nothing much. This isn't fair for the scammed. They lose their items, which they could have worked hard for, in return for nothing.

Now you may think that it's the scammed's fault for falling for the trick. However, Animal Jam is, after all, a kid's game. They may not be aware of scammers with not-so-good intent.

I'd like to move onto how the scammed might feel when they have their items taken away from them. Let's put ourselves in the scenario that you are the scammed. How would you feel if you had your good items, that you worked weeks for, taken away for good? You cannot get them back no matter what you do. Let that sink in for a moment.

Similarly, the scammed may feel sad when they get their items taken away like that. It isn't a good feeling. I don't think making others feel sad helps to make a good, positive Animal Jam Community.

Now, if you still can't picture why scamming is undesirable, let me present to you an analogy: cheating in a test.

Imagine that you studied real hard for the test. You studied day after day to prepare yourself for the test. When the test day comes, you feel confident in scoring full marks.

Your classmate seated next to you didn't study at all. They simply relaxed all day and waited for the test day to come.

When the test started, you realised that you could do all questions. However, you did not notice your classmate copying your answers, because you were too busy doing your own test.

In the middle of the test, the teacher walks up to you and your classmate, and takes you both out of class. The teacher scolds your classmate for cheating, and scolds you for helping them cheat. You try to defend yourself, but without solid evidence that you were not helping them cheat, both you, and your classmate are subject to punishment.

At the end of the day, your classmate got a solid zero for the test. However, you look at your test, and realised that you got a zero as well, even though you answered every question correctly.

That's the end of the analogy, and the end of the post from me. Until next time.

Don't hate the scammers, but have compassion for the scammed.

Random Saturday Ep 16: Lucky Clovers

Lucky Clovers is a seasonal adventure that comes out around Lucky Day/St Patrick’s Day. It is thus themed this way, with clovers and cobblestone villages.

The point of this adventure is to find all 50 clover keys scattered throughout the map. Every 10 clovers, you get a large key that you can unlock a chest at the center with. Once you’ve collected all clover keys, you get a very large key that unlocks the chest in the center.

The small chests contain Lucky Day-themed items, and there is a member and non-member chest. The large chest usually contains rares of some sort, ranging widely in value, although the non-member chest can give out mundane items.

As with all gathering-things adventures like this, it can devolve into a great bore as you reach the end, where you must go over the entire map again to find 3 keys that you missed.

I think efficient methods are more important than spotting keys, as you want to avoid missing parts of the map, finding clovers when you have a large key, and other such things.

Preferably, use a flying animal here. It’s so much easier when you can just bypass fences and houses and the like. I know this is not feasible for everyone, but if you can, do so. Plus you can just fly up to those little platform things instead of waiting for someone else to join you.

Overall, this adventure is fun. It’s just when it gets to the end that it gets tedious. Bye!
